Each year on March 31, the world observes Trans Day of Visibility (TDOV) to celebrate the lives and contributions of trans people, whilst also drawing attention to the discrimination and violence the community faces.
The vast majority of people learn about trans people from the media, which is a problem because the media often misrepresents, mischaracterises and stereotypes trans people. These false portrayls are further compounded by increasingly hostile governments, who seek to oppress and weaponise trans people's rights for political gain.
Globally trans people represent less than 1% of the population, yet so much time and energy is spent hating on trans people.
We wanted to take this opportunity to reaffirm that we fully support our trans, non-binary and gender non-conforming siblings. We see you, we support you and we love you.
